This residential EV charger install used a pedestal post mount rather than a wall mount — which makes sense when the parking is in a side yard or driveway away from a wall, or when the homeowner wants two chargers accessible from either side without running separate conduit runs to two different locations.
The setup puts two Tesla Wall Connectors back-to-back on a single post, bolted to a base plate anchored to the concrete. One conduit run comes up through the base of the pedestal and feeds both units. The post keeps everything clean and freestanding — no wall penetrations, no exposed conduit running along stucco.
Inside each Wall Connector, the conductors are landed on the L1, L2/N, and ground terminals and torqued to the 50 lb-in spec printed on the label. Tesla specifies copper conductors only — aluminum is not permitted in the Wall Connector terminations, and the wire gauge has to be sized for the breaker feeding the circuit. Both units were wired identically and verified before closeout.
Tesla Wall Connectors on a 60-amp circuit deliver up to 48 amps of continuous charging — enough to fully charge most Tesla models overnight from near empty. If you're adding a second car or want charger access from both sides of a parking area, the dual pedestal configuration is a clean solution that avoids running two separate circuits.
