Commercial LED Lighting Upgrades: What the Glass Shop and Horse Stable Jobs Actually Involved

Commercial and agricultural lighting is a different job than swapping fixtures in a house. Here's what two real projects — a glass warehouse in Stockton and a horse stable in the Central Valley — actually required.

Commercial and agricultural lighting jobs look simple from the outside — you're putting up lights. The reality is that working at commercial ceiling heights, across large footprints, without reliable existing electrical infrastructure makes these jobs a different category of work than residential lighting.

Here are two jobs we completed that show what the scope actually looks like.

Glass Shop Warehouse LED Upgrade — Stockton

This was a full LED high-bay lighting replacement across a large commercial glass warehouse — the kind of building that stores large glass sheets on vertical racks, runs forklifts, and needs consistent, bright light across a wide floor plate.

The existing lighting was inadequate for the space. New LED high-bay fixtures were installed across the full ceiling, including the main storage, staging, and inventory areas. The open wood-beam ceiling at that height required a Genie boom lift — a ladder isn't safe or practical when you're working 20-plus feet over active inventory and equipment.

The fixture layout was planned to give even coverage without dark zones near the racks. High-bay LEDs in a commercial space aren't just about brightness — they're a safety requirement for workers handling glass, operating forklifts, and reading shipping labels at the back of a deep building.

These jobs require understanding the electrical load the new fixtures will draw, verifying existing circuit capacity supports it, and distributing the fixtures efficiently. The Stockton installation was completed as a standalone lighting upgrade — the panels had capacity to handle the new load without service work.

Horse Stable LED Lighting — Central Valley

The agricultural job was a full LED install across an open-sided horse stable — a metal-framed feeding and stall barn that had no lighting at all before the project. An unlit barn creates real operational and safety problems for anyone working with animals after dark.

LED fixtures were mounted along the underside of the metal roof framing, running the full length of the structure. Placement was coordinated to give even coverage across the stalls without glare at the open ends. The result is a warm, visible light line under the eave that reads from a distance — which is what you want on a working property.

The challenge on agricultural structures is that there's often no existing electrical infrastructure to work from. No interior panels, no conduit runs, nothing. All wiring has to be run from the source and protected appropriately for an outdoor, agricultural environment — weatherproof fittings, correct conduit ratings, proper grounding.

What Commercial and Agricultural Lighting Requires

The common thread is that commercial and agricultural lighting is a planned scope, not a quick swap. Fixture selection, circuit verification, access equipment, and weatherproofing all have to be part of the plan before work starts. If you have a commercial or agricultural structure that needs lighting, the right approach is a site visit before quoting. The variables on these projects are too significant to estimate remotely.
